Uncomfortably Numb

So. I went out last night for a friends birthday, just to the pub after work and ended up staying for five hours. I drank a ridiculous amount of Bombay Sapphire and tonic and consequently don't remember much of the night and I hope I didn't cause offence to anyone.

I know I said I would stop worrying about what I do on nights out but I can't help it. I also know it's my own fault for drinking too much. So a new leaf methinks, moderate drinking ahoy.

But will I stick to it???

See, one of my new years resolutions was not to drink at all (my parents, of all people, managed to break that) but what it has done is make me think more...

When you drink loads, you forget shit. Not good. Also, it costs lots (specially in London - it's dear enough in Southampton). Another thing, it hurts in the morning.

So - maybe, if on pints, that perhaps you should set a limit, and just sip your pint genteely. I can make a pint of ale last 2 hours, and you get more conversing and less spending in.

If on the spirits: shots, bad, mixers, good. BUT: stick to doubles, so you can taste the alcohol and don't think that it's just mixer, and subsequently just neck loads. The fizz never helps.

I would try a couple of non-alcoholic nights out, as you'll end up going out subsequently, and thinking you might only feel like a couple, as opposed to many.

Of course, you could actually go tee-total.
