This Cookie's not for crumbling

I went to see 1990s tonight, it was their Album launch party at The Borderline a nice cosy venue, hidden away just off Charing Cross Road, which was nearly packed out tonight. When I got there A female fronted four piece from Scotland were playing, I think they were called Fake Fang but I'm not 100% on that and they were very good.

1990s are a three piece from Glasgow I don't know much else about them other than that. I felt they had a little of the Kinks, Beatles, Strokes, Eagles and quite possibly some Boston thrown in there although I could be completely wrong on all counts. The drummer who was raised up a little and the kit brought forward so we could see him singing and the guitarist shared lead singing duties through the set. I don't know all the names of the songs the played and I'm rubbish at remembering the order but for me their most notable track of the evening was Situation, the set closer, which had a whopping what felt like ten minutes of sublime guitar soloing. They returned for an encore of two more songs after a foot stamping and cheering crowd urging them to.

After the set Cansei de Ser Sexy did a DJ set and also some VERY SPECIAL GUESTS, I wonder who they were and will I be kicking myself when I find out, but needs must so I went home because I hadn't (still haven't) slept since Saturday Night. All in all an excellent gig from a delightful indie pop band we should be hearing lots more from in the very near future, well worth it. :)
